David Parry, PhD, joined Illumina’s Artificial Intelligence Lab in 2022 to help develop deep learning tools for clinical variant interpretation. During his PhD studies at the University of Leeds and postdoctoral positions at the University of Edinburgh his work spanned the identification of numerous novel gene-disease relationships in rare disease to the molecular characterization of cancer mutation signatures, resulting in publications in world-leading journals including Nature and Nature Genetics.

As part of Illumina’s deep learning team, he now works on further improving Illumina’s pioneering variant interpretation tools and developing novel algorithms to assist the clinical interpretation of genomic data.
