Registration, fees & payment

Deadline for the registration to the conference will be 16th September 2024.

The official ticketing partner for Gene Forum 2024 is Fienta. Payments are accepted by bank link, credit card and by invoices. An invoice will be automatically generated to all participants upon registration.

*Geneforum 2024 will be held as a hybrid meeting. You can choose  between an online or on-site registration. Please notice that despite the same price for online and on-site tickets, you are not free to switch from online participation to on-site participation (and vice-versa) without further notification to the conference organizers. To make the conference experience as smooth as possible for all participants, we need to know the exact number of people taking part on-line and on-site event. If you wish to change your registration type, please contact us by writing to geneforum@ut.ee

Link to the online meeting will be sent to you before the conference.

Conference will be recorded. And the videorecording of the conference (consisting of presentations which the speaker has agreed to be recorded) will be made available for follow-up viewing to all conference registered participants.

Cancellations, substitutions

  • If you will be unable to attend, you can make substitutions at no extra charge. All the substitutions must be made in written form to the Conference Secretariat prior to the conference. Please contact geneforum@ut.eefor substitutions.
  • Refundswill be available up to September 6th 17:00, 2024. No refunds will be made after that date. To initiate the refund, please see the footer of your ticket confirmation e-mail where you will find a purchase number that links to a private purchase management page on Fienta platform. Follow the instructions shown there.

Practical information

The 23rd Gene Forum 2024 will be held on 24th-25th September 2024, at the Estonian National Museum conference centre in Tartu, Estonia.

Tartu is the European Culture Capital 2024. Take the opportunity and visit also the cultural program of Tartu 2024. For more information about the programme see here.

Getting to Tartu

The main international airport is located in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. Also, it is possible to fly to Riga, Latvia. The distance between Tartu and Tallinn is 180 km, distance between Riga airport and Tartu is 250 km. From 31st of March 2024 Finnair also operates flights between Helsingi and Tartu. From Tallinn it is possible to take a bus or a train to Tartu. Information regarding bus transportation can be found here(departure stop Tallinn Airport, destination stop Tartu Coach Station) and information about train transportation here.

Buses to Tartu leave every hour from the airport – passengers arriving from flights can access the bus departure stop through the gallery connecting the airport terminal building and the bus/tram stop waiting room.  Main train station in Tallinn is Balti jaam, but it is possible to catch a train from Ülemiste station (near airport). Ülemiste station is 13 minutes (1 km) walk away from the Tallinn airport. To get to Balti jaam train station, please see here to plan your travel within the city.

Getting to Estonian National Museum

How to come on foot?

If you move from the city centre upwards on the Roosi street, walk until you cross Muuseumi tee and you will see Estonian National Museum. The main access is from the A-entrance. The walk from the Tartu Coach Station is approximately 40 minutes.

How to come by bike?

Tartu has a public, self-service bike share system for short trips (Smart Bike Share). Bike Share comprises 750+ bikes and 100 stations. Two thirds of the fleet is equipped with electric-assist motors that provide riders with an extra boost when pedalling.  The nearest bike share station is located in front of the Museum, directly across the street of Muuseumi tee. How to come by public transport?

Next to Tasku centre in city center, take a bus number 7  It will make a stop in front of the museum. The main access is from the A-entrance.
From the railway station, take bus number 25 which goes through the city centre (bus stops Kesklinn III, Turu, and Soola) and stops again in front of Estonian National Museum, in parking lot A. Bus tickets can be purchased on the bus.  You can find more information on bus tickets here.

How to come by car?

Follow the map below for instructions and parking. The main access is from the A-entrance. The B-entrance is open only during special events. Parking is free of charge.
