Jeroen Adema is the strategic commercial segment manager Central Europe at Illumina. In this role he connects various stakeholders to further drive the adoption of next generation sequencing (NGS) in large national genome initiatives, biobanks, and the use of genomics in preventive healthcare.Prior to Illumina he held roles in research and development and as application scientist with a varied background ranging from Zoonotic diseases, Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics to single cell genomics. In 2026 he celebrated 15 years of working with NGS from hands-on experience developing products in the lab to advocating the value of genomics in a commercial role today.
The genome and beyond: the path from innovation to impact
For more than 25 years, Illumina has driven innovation in genomics while fostering a collaborative ecosystem that empowers community worldwide. Guided by our mission to improve human health by unlocking the power of the genome, Illumina has continually worked to remove barriers to adoption, advancing accessibility through improvements in cost, simplicity, scalability, and informatics. Today, this journey continues with a new generation of innovations designed to accelerate scientific discovery and translate insights into real-world impact. The introduction of TruPath™ Genome further enhances the quality, accessibility, and ease of whole-genome sequencing, while ongoing advances in sequencing economics and bioinformatics are enabling researchers to explore biology with unprecedented depth and scale. At the same time, with the latest innovations Illumina is powering the next era of multiomics and multimodal discovery, enabling researchers to move seamlessly from data generation to biological insight through connected, end-to-end solutions. In the upcoming session we discuss how those are shaping the future of research and helping unlock a deeper understanding of biology, from the genome and beyond.
